Check out GTA's Liberty City for free

The lite version of this program can no longer be downloaded. Take a look at Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars instead.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is a portable sandbox action adventure set in the violent, corrupt and fictional Liberty City. Guide Huang Lee on a revenge mission full of car-jackings, shootouts and drama.

Welcome to Chinatown

This iPhone version of the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP game is excellent. Like many other games in the GTA series, there's no shortage of things to do. The story line naturally guides you through Lee's story and the game won't leave you bored.

Aside from the missions, mini-games, and story lines, you can still go on your guilty-pleasure GTA rampage.

Console controls on a mobile?

*The biggest issue with Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, like many iPhone games, is control. The on-screen joystick and buttons can take some getting used to, and are nowhere near as accurate as physical controls.

However, a lot of effort has clearly been put into making Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars' controls as comfortable as popular, and with a little practice they feel fine.

That Rockstar look

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars looks great, with its top-down 3D graphics that bring a huge city to life.

The soundtrack and sound effects are also excellent, and an improvement over the DS version. What hasn't changed it that all the cut scenes are presented with semi-animated cartoon sequences that are subtitled - there is no voice acting.

Hit the streets

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is one of the best handheld games of this generation. Just be warned - it's not suitable for children!
